Cardinal Szoka Library

Named in honor of former archbishop of Detroit, His Eminence Edmund Cardinal Szoka, The Edmund Cardinal Szoka Library is the main library that serves the graduate and undergraduate programs at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. Serving as an "information commons" for the seminary community, the Szoka Library offers computer lab resources in addition to the collections of circulating books, reference materials, periodicals and  audio visual materials.

The Szoka Library is located directly under the main chapel on the lower level. It houses the theology, philosophy and liberal arts collections, as well as complementary collections in history, literature and the fine arts. The Szoka Library also houses the audio and video collection, theology indexes and atlases, a browsing collection of current periodical issues and a large reference collection. A photocopy machine, microfilm machine and book sale shelf are provided for the convenience of our patrons.

The Szoka Library contains the administrative and technical staff offices. Reference services and membership purchases are also available at this location.

While the primary purpose of the Szoka Library is to provide support for the academic curriculum at Sacred Heart, the library also serves an extended community of clergy, parishes, archdiocesan staff and religious scholars throughout Michigan through a paid membership service.
