Making a Gift Through Your Will

By including a bequest to Sacred Heart Major Seminary in your last will and testament you create a lasting legacy of your faith and generosity that benefits the seminary and the whole Catholic Church. It can also benefit you and your family as well by reducing the size of your taxable estate.

A bequest is a transfer of cash, securities, or other property to the seminary that you make through your will or living trust.  A bequest to Sacred Heart can be made for a specific amount, for a percentage of your estate, or even for all or a portion of what is left in your estate after you have made specific bequests to your family and loved ones.

Therefore it is necessary to have a valid will or trust in order to accomplish your goal of leaving a legacy to the Church as your final act of stewardship. And setting up a bequest gift is fairly simple. You may make a bequest by including the following language in your will:

"I give and devise to Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Detroit, Michigan all (or you may state a percentage or exact amount) of the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal, to be held, administered, and used for the unrestricted support of Sacred Heart Major Seminary."
