The Institute for Lay Ministry (ILM) is the administrative branch of Sacred Heart Major Seminary that provides formation opportunities and career and ministerial services for lay students who are enrolled in the seminary's degree, certificate, and diploma programs, as well as for those students who wish to take courses for their own faith enrichment.

Our role is to serve students preparing for various lay ministries and leadership roles, including the permanent diaconate, and provide continuing education programs (formation) to assist students seeking lay ministerial certification in the Archdiocese of Detroit.
