MOVEit Data Breach

National Student Clearinghouse (NSC), a product used by Sacred Heart Major Seminary for enrollment reporting purposes, recently announced that they were affected by a data breach affecting a small number of current and former Sacred Heart students.

The breach involved a third-party servicer, MOVEit, which is used to support transferring of data files. It has been confirmed to only impact MOVEit, which Sacred Heart only uses through NSC. No seminary-owned or operated systems have been compromised by this incident.

NSC has provided Sacred Heart with a list of individuals affected by this breach as well as details about the nature of the exposure. Importantly, the breach did not result in any unauthorized access of personal identifying information for any members of the Sacred Heart community.

Sacred Heart takes seriously its obligation to protect sensitive data and expects the same from all vendors and partners. We will be closely monitoring this situation and will share any new information with the community as it becomes available.

More information about this situation, including steps taken by NSC and MOVEit to secure their systems, is available here.
