Victor M. Salas is a Professor of Philosophy who specializes in medieval and late scholastic metaphysics. His publications have treated a number of historical figures such as Albertus Magnus, Bonaventure, Thomas Aquinas, Duns Scotus, et al., but he especially concentrates on the Baroque Jesuit Francisco Suárez to whom his most recent book Immanent Transcendence: Francisco Suárez's Doctrine of Being (Leuven University Press) is devoted. A related area of research interest for Salas is the Jesuit scholastic notion of supertranscendentality, especially insofar as it serves as a locus of transition to early modern ontology. Additionally, Salas is interested in the intersection of traditional medieval metaphysics with postmodern philosophies of religion, particularly those that seek to overcome metaphysics.
