Very Rev. Stephen P. Burr earned an AB in Philosophy at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in 1998. He completed the Master of Divinity degree at Sacred Heart Major Seminary in 2002.
Following ordination to the priesthood for the Archdiocese of Detroit in 2002, Fr. Burr received two assignments. His primary assignment was to St. Andrew in Rochester, as associate pastor, and his part-time assignment was to Brother Rice and Marian High Schools as chaplain.
In 2005, he was assigned as associate pastor to The Church of the Divine Child. During his assignment at Divine Child he also served as a part-time formation advisor to undergraduate seminarians at Sacred Heart Major Seminary.
In 2007, he was assigned to Our Lady of Good Council, in Plymouth, MI. The following year, Cardinal Maida appointed Fr. Burr the Director of Undergraduate Seminarians and full-time faculty member at Sacred Heart Major Seminary. While serving as the Director of Undergraduate Seminarians, Fr. Burr served in additional roles at the seminary as the Director of Undergraduate Pastoral Formation from 2009-2017 and as the Interim Vice Rector in 2013. In addition to his seminary responsibilities, Fr. Burr also served as a weekend assistant at St. Mary in Wayne, MI and St. John Vianney in Shelby Township, MI.
In 2017, Archbishop Vigneron appointed Fr. Burr as the Vice Rector of Sacred Heart Major Seminary. While serving as the Vice Rector at Sacred Heart Major Seminary, Fr. Burr also serves as the Pastor of Presentation/Our Lady of Victory Parish in Detroit, MI.
While serving at the seminary and in parish ministry, Fr. Burr was also a part-time graduate student at The Catholic University of America. In 2019, he earned his Doctorate of Ministry.
